This Week’s picture it & write: Blind Sight Edition

Like evil paper airplanes, they circled around Aniela, fluttering in her face, dive bombing her.  Never did they touch her, but that only made them more frightening.  It was as if they could see er, react to her movements.  The faces.  The faces on the drawings saw her, saw her for what she was. A liar, a thief.

Aniela threw up a shield, but the persistent pages only became incensed and pecked harder.  Who were they? What did it all mean?  Her heart told her one thing and her mind told her another.

The Devil’s Whore? – This Week’s Picture It & Write

By brookeshaden

From the sour scowl my mother wore, I knew she detested them. I wasn’t certain what the children were doing in the woods so late at night. The softest buzz of chanting could be heard. The faint scent of smoke and ash lingered. Was my mother right? Were they playing with the devil himself? “Witches! Whores!”My mother spat. I continued to peer outside my window, staring out into the black forest. “Stop staring! Is that what you want to become, Madeline? The devil’s whore?” I shook my head sternly. My mother stormed off, muttering prayers. A black smear was moving in the distance. I could see someone running. A blur of red, a dab of yellow. It was a girl. My fingertips touched the cool glass. What was she running from? Or, who was she running to?

Mired Down In Strife

undefined

In the pain of life
when mired down with strife

The strength we may find
is not that of mind

But a Spiritual one rather
given us by the Father

If to Him we pray
“help me through this day”

He is ever faithful to
lend His strength to you

and faith in Him renew!

Mark – 30 Day Letter Writing Challenge: Letter 7 – Ex-Love

My dearest love Mark
I’m writing to say

Things I should have
a long ago day

When I loved you
so very much more

Than ever I told you
at any time before

And now you’re gone
angels took you away

Home to the heaven
where you will stay

You were the best man
that I had ever known

Deserving of more love
than you were shown

Oh Mark,  I’m sorry
that I didn’t see

The life for us
that it could be

Today I am sure
that you’re fully aware

Of another great man
I’ve found out there

 Whom I love as much
as he loves me

And his name’s Mark too
now isn’t that “funny”?

A Good Candidate Is Hard to Find – NY Times Headline

A good candidate
is hard to find

By New York Times
was today headlined

Which has been found
by me as true

Who’s saying America,
God bless you?

Everyone that reads me
knows just I feel

How God from the Country
 some are trying to steal

And although there’s many
who do not agree

This blog right here
belongs only to me

So you will find
it’s my point of view

Dictating what I say
and think or do

And though there are none
in the debates I see

That have all that much
made an impression on me

The votes that are counted
with the coming election day

Will choose the right one
is what I hope and pray!

30 Day Letter Writing Challenge; Letter 4 – Sibling

undefined

So now is the time
for my brother Hugh

That in the family
is known as hubedoo

It truly is a blessings
that we still have you

After everything last year that
you had to go through

In that short time ago
you were pronounced to die

And it was on God
that we did rely

When the family did
our prayers to heaven cry

To please delay you from
having to say goodbye

Just thinking of it and
how the doctors now say

That only by a miracle
is there any way

You are here in
such good health today

And it’s looking like
you’re here to stay

Declaring that I love you
would be putting it mild

You’ll always be “big brother”
to this younger child

As every little girl knows
our brothers stand apart

And my dearest Hugh
you’re special to my heart

30 Day Letter Writing Challenge – Letter 2; Husband

What can I ever say
I’ve not said before

About the one man
that I love and adore

God sent you back
’cause I needed you more

Than the heaven that
you were aching for

-

My heart’s forever yours
my darling, my dear

And of that one fact
let me be perfectly clear

Whenever the end of
our lives grows near

Together we’ll be in
the next no fear

-

 But now just because
you float my boat

It does not mean
that you can gloat

Yes, I am kidding
you smart old goat

When all my love
to you I devote!

(I had to add the last stanza because my darling husband was being ficious when I was reading this to him and suggested a line like – And to me it is clear, I deserve to drink a beer – to which I added – All because my little dear, I had to put up with you here!  Smarty pants, lol!!)

You Give Us

Oh Mother of Earth
on you we rely

Who cares for us
though you we try

When you break down
in rage we cry

Yet because of us
you live or die

-

Each year in Spring
is new life born

And with vibrant colors
the earth you adorn

When new green foliage
by trees are worn

 It’s not the Winter
for which we mourn

-

Oh Mother, oh Mother
of Earth in all

The Winter, the Spring
the Summer and Fall

You care for us
both great and small

The return be done
by us one and all!

Fractured – This Week’s Picture It & Write

undefinedSnap. I wondered if I would be able to see my pink beanie in the photograph. It had been at least three weeks since Christmas had arrived and left, and yet I found a Christmas ball upon this tree. Hanging. Dangling. I felt the strange urge to reach out and snap the twig. Snap. I watched it fall, gracefully into the snow with a thud. It didn’t break. I could still see my damn reflection. The seemingly perfect sphere wasn’t so perfect. I could see marks of erosion and decay, like the ornament had developed cancer. My distorted reflection laughed at me, at my failed career. I kicked my reflection. Smash. It broke into a million, fractured pieces in the snow.

- Ermisenda Alvarez

And as there it lay
broken before my eyes

That momentary reaction
how I did despise

When it was because
my character they attack

While saying that there was
a “something” I did lack

To make me feel less
so they could feel more

Deserving of the praise
that they just lived for

Yes, I have many fractures,
little cracks and flaws

But I get them honestly
each one has a cause

They call my life
a mess and failure

And yet I have wonder
if the same they could endure

I’ve taken every punch
still on my feet standing

I will not ever buckle
in this world so demanding

I’m sorry oh little orb
I took it out on you

When at the moment it seemed
you were laughing at me too

If my life was solid
without cracks in my ball

However could my light
shine through then at all?

Of who I am today
I truly must be proud

And to all the haters
I’ll scream it out loud!
